A heavy loss both human and material was reported by the authorities during the passage of the tropical cyclone Batsirai. This one still continues its way out of the big island but nevertheless leaves on its way a large number of citizens stricken, especially because of the recent heavy rains.
In a supportive response to this disaster, OMNIS is lending a hand to the government. Basic necessities including 20 bags of rice, 10 boxes of salt, 250 kg of sugar, 75 kg of beans, 75 kg of tsiasisa, 5 boxes of candles, 14 boxes of soaps, 100 liters of oil and 50 pieces of blankets were handed over to the National Office of Risk and Disaster Management (BNGRC) in Antanimora on January 27. This donation is the result of a contribution from the staff supported by the OMNIS itself. The delegation was led by the acting General Manager Nantenaina RASOLONIRINA, some members of the Board of Directors and Directors of the Office.
The mining company Qit Madagascar Minerals also joined the solidarity efforts coordinated by the Malagasy Government to help the victims by offering 200 bags of rice and 50 large blankets to the BNGRC.
